Mr Trevisa Glarko saw Mr Bent, Premier of Victoria, and spoke hopefully of the mail syndicate's prospects. He said that negotiations had been suspended pending a reply to telegrams sent to Australia. A REQUEST TO CANADA. LONDON, May 1. „Sir J. G. Ward asked Sir Wilfrid Laurier to join New Zealand and Australia in a fast and up-to-date mail service via Vancouver. Sir Wilfrid Lauder is favourable, but Mr Deakin's attitude has not been disclosed. , THE VANCOUVER SERVICE. MELBOURNE, May 1. The Conference between the PostmasterGeneral and the manager of the Union Company is understood to have resulted in an. extension of the Vancouver contract for twelve months.
