RIOT AT SYDNEY.
NON-UNIONISTS BRUTALLY ASSAULTED. TWENTY MEN INJURED. POLICE RESTORE ORDER. i United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright-. SYDNEY, May 1. A sensational development of the coaling trouble has occurred. The coaling of the Nord Deutscher Lloyd steamer Prinz Sigismund with non-unionists was to have commenced this afternoon, and several hundred/strikers and others collected in the vicinitv -of the .company's wharf at Circular Quay. When the non-unionists marched down, without the police escort, the crowd set upon and brutally assaulted them, about 20 being more or less injured. A strong force of police arriving restored order, but not before several of them were roughly handled. Six arrests have been made. / There is much excitement, and thousands of persons congregated at the wharf, watching later stages-of the disturbance.
