GREAT DAMAGE! AT PERTH. United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PERTH, April 25. The most disastrous firs in the' history of-the city, which'-completely\gutted Sandover and Co. 's large four-storey hardware establisllrnieiit, occurred to-day. 'lt • started in: the cellar amongst the paint and benzine, and spread with tremendous rapidity. There was ■a. heavy stock of explosives in the cellar. Half the firemen attacked thsi flames. ' The remainder entering the explosives department singly, secured the parcels, and removed them to a place of safety. .The work, was dangerous, owing to the explosion 6ft cartridges. • '■''■..■.'" White and Co.'sV and Mackay's drapery establishmentss were considerably, and others slightly damaged. Sandover and Co.'s insurance was £46,834, but' they state that this does not represent anything like, their lcs?. The other premises were insured. .
