Farewell Handicap—Moloch 1, Pantaloon 2; dividends, £2 9s and £4 Bs. SEADOWN TROT APPEAL. DISALLOWED BY THE ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held on Wednesday to hear an appeal against the decision of "the Stewards of the South. Canterbury Jockey Club in disqualifying Dummy for the Seadown Trot on the second day of the club's recent meeting on the ground of inconsistent running. The stewards-had disqualified Dummy, and had awarded the race to The Article- at the same time disqualifying the driver, R. McConachie, until December 31st, and the. appeal had been lodged by B. Grice, the owner of Dummy, The horse had run unplaced in l the Washdyke Trot on the first day, Snd on the second day had finished first., in the Seadown Trot, and had thereupon been protested against by the owner of The Article, who >had run second. Evidence in support of the appeal was given by R. Grice (owner), and R. McConachie (driver), as well as by J. McDonnell- and J. Stewart, The first-named asserted that as far as he was concerned, his horse was a genuine trier, while McConachie stated that' lie was prepared to take an affidavit that lie dkb-not- stop the horse from winning on £iie fir?,t day, and had backed no other horse in the race. The. South Conterbury Club was represented by. Mr A.
