PAHIATUA, May 17. A man named Singleton was sentenced to-day to four months' imprisonment for perjury. Judge Haselden said the offence •was becoming verys common, but it appeared to.be the desire of' the Supreme Court Judges to try the effect of mild sentences, especially upon first offenders. This enabled him to pass a lenient sentence.
WELLINGTON, May 17. At a, fitting'of Jhe Divorce' Court this morning decrees nisi were granted in the following ,caees:—Leonard Oompton v. Ehaa Compton> and Percy J. Lewis with £SO damages against the co-respondent; Isabel Young v. Frederick R. Young; Sarah Ann Wilson v. Hugh Wilson; John R. Larsen v. Maud Alice Lareen, An order for restitution of "conjugal rights was granted in Dorothy Ames v. Arthur Joseph Ames. , The case of Hugh Campbell v. Mary Campbell was adjourned for further evidence,. and the same 'course was followed in the case of Alice Harrison v. Job Harrison.
