The Premier remarked* that the statutes at present only gave power to reserve a quarter of a million acres for' charitable and legislation must be sought next session to authorise the reservation of the additional quarter of a million. The statutes referred to are the Etuiwtion Reserves Act- of 1877 and the Hospi--100/ Charitable Institutions Act of 1885. The former provides for .the allocation of the then existing education reserves between primary and secondary schools.
