EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Pukaki, s.s., from the south, this morning. Wanaka, s.s., from the Bluff, to-morrow. Squall, s.s., daily. V Wairuna, s.s., from Lyttelton, to-mor-row. .. Owing to the heavy sea at Oamaru, the Wanaka. was unable to berth yesterday. and will therefore not be here till tomorrow. . The Poherua' arrived at 5 o'clock last evening from the West Coast, with a load of coal and timber. She will probably get away this afternoon. The Storm arrived yesterday morninc and landed a small quantity of general cargo. After taking in 130 tons of produce for Wanginui, she left about noon. The Government yacht Tutanekei arrived at 8 o'clock yesterday morning- from Oamaru, bringing the Right Hon. .R. J. Seddon to Timaru. She sailed at 10.30 a.m. for Lyttelton. . The scow Warrior arrived here yesterday (morning, bound from Hokianga to Dunedin,. with a full cargo of timber. She was 20 days out, having been detained by head" winds, and had run out of water and short' of provisions. The little vessel was not; able to make, the harbour in the face of a steady sou'-wester that blew '"all''the' morning. She made several attempts, tacking back and forth past the entrance, and at last had to give up the endeavour - and anchored in the shelter of the extension. Her manoeuvrss were watched by a number of interested spectators; and though in an unpleasant. predicament, the scow was a very pretty figure, lit by brilliant sunshine, and plunging 1 into the chopping waves, making big white splashes. She was anchored shortly after mid-day and lay there all day. The New Zealand Shipping Company has addressed a letter to the Wellington Harbour Board, stating -that as the latter appears to-be under the impression that Wellington is the cheapest port in the colony for shipping, they desire to remove ,' that impression from their minds by. giving ' a statement-; of .the charges payable for £he same services and the same amount of (Cargo on the present voyages of-toe steamers Turakina and Kaipara. These are. given jas follows : Wellington; £331; 'Auckland, £209.; Lyttelton, £196; Dun-, edm, £240. . The excess at Wellington,a Press Association, telegram ---says/. iss;;ap--sparently accounted for "by the harbour improvement, rate being charged against the ships instead of against goods as elsewhere, and because at the other ports the charges for a second visit on the same voyage were oceduced. Other points of difference are mentioned which tell against Wellington, and a table is attached showing that the percentage. of harbour revenue contributed by the ship is only at Sydheyvand Melbourne, whereas it runs to 50 m v Wellington.

Per Press Association. BLUFF, February 20. Arrived—Maheno, from flobart via Milford Sound, with an English mail. The mails missed the first- express. -.. -
