THE ROLLESTON STATUE.
ARRIVED AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, November 29. At a meeting of the Rolleston Statue Committee to-dax the Secretary- reporteS that the statue to the Hon. W. Rollestrw had arrived in Christchurch from England, and that a further sum of £IOO was required to defray the expenses in connection with its erection. With reference to the bnsfc for the General Assembly, the sculptor would charge £125. The pedestal was expected to arrive before the end of the year, and it would be some three months after pedestal and foundations were ready, before the statue was placed in positionTie_ total expenditure to date had been £1351, of which £3l was an overdraft at the bank. The statue will be placed on the west side of Antigua street, before the Museum, and facing towards the Cathedral. Ibe committee adjourned without passing ::ny resolution. ■
