ANOTHER SPLENDID VICTORY. NORTHAMPTON BADLY DEFEATED. United Press Association—Per Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 29. The New Zealand football team met a team from Northamptonshire to-day, and won by 32 point® to nothing. The match attracted 6000 spectators. The colonials entered their opponents' teritory immediately after ; the kickroff, and within the first quarter of an hour Mynott (Taranaki) secured first blood. The home team were Unable to stem the repeated charges of the colonial vanguard, which were carried out with great ccftnbination, and in the first spell were continuously on the -defensive. Tries were obtained in quick succession by Hunter (Taranaki), Stead (Southland), and Harper (Canterbury), and then Hunter again crossed the line. Of the five tries secured up to half-time, Wallace (Wellington), in three instances, by finely-judged kicks, added the extra points. When, the "interval was taken the score stood —New Zealand 21 points; Northampton 0. The second spell opened with Northampton still endeavouring to keep the! colonials off their line, and while scoring was not so-cyclonic as- in. the previous half, the local men'were never allowed to break through the Nfew Zealanders' defence. Tyler (Auckland) was the first to score in this spell, and" Wallace was again successful in putting the leather between the posts. Later on the pair of Taranaki backs, Mynott and" Hunter, who- Were playing a very clever game, each secured a try, both of which Wallace failed to convert- When the. whistle sounded noside, ' the score stpod— New Zealand 32 Northampton 0 [Last season Northampton beat London Welsh," Castleford, Lennox, Richmond, and Coventry, but was beaten to the tune of 29 to 3'by Gloucester, who showed excellent Rugby. Northampton was also beaten by Wolsey by 14 to 8, and by Oxford University by 15 to 8. Oxford was reputedly a very strong team last- year. To-day New Zealand plays Leicester, which last season won .the Midland Counties Cup, beating Coventry end Nottingham. Leicester is to be credited; with a scoreless draw last season with Swansea, thK unbeaten team; and with, a- win by 16 to 8 over the other Welsh club, Cardiff (which also drew with Swansea). Leicester beat Gloucester by 6 to 3, but was "beaten by Newport.]
