THE HAWKS'S BAY SHOW.
Per Press Association. HASTINGS, October 20. The weather is fine, and there is a large attendance at the people's day of the show. The championships were won as follows : Berkshire boat, Slack Bios., Palmerston North ; Yorkshire boar, Ambrose Wellwood, Hastings ; sow, E. White, Porangahau; Tamworth boar,. J. Jarvis, Palmerston North; sow, Nelson Bros., Hastings. Points Prizes—Cattle, Archdeacon Williams, Te Aute; sheep, Lincolns, Hon. J. D. Ormond, Hastings; Border- Leicester, Southdowns and crossbred, Nelson Bros., Hastings; English Leicester, Shropshire Downs and- fat sheep, R. D. D. McLean,M;raekakaho;~ Romney Marsh, Hutchinson and Son, Riseington; farmers' stock sheep, W. Richmond, Hastings; pigs, E. White, Porangahau. The championship for thoroughbred horses was awarded to the Hon. J. D. Ormond's Sir Lnuncelet; champion hack, Miss Yolande Sunderland's Mahomet. The leaping match was won by Mr H! Hassall's Pickpoeke . The leading and jumping competition was won by the East Coast mounted rifle*. The handicap wood-chop'-ping competition was won l>v C. R. Berkalin.
The weather proved fine, although very, threatening in the morning, and the attendance was'almost equal In the second day last year, nr-obabiv, 10.000 people being on the ground.
