- WASHDYKE STOCK SALE. There was a small sale at. the Washdyke yards yesterday. Fat ewes fetched 19s, 20s, 21s 3d, 235, 23s 3d; fat cows, £5 5s to £6; btdlocks, £6 Us, JB6 17s 6d. THE HOME MARKETS. The. Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association have received the following cable message from their London office: " Mutton:" We quote to-day's value on Smithfield' market of prime Canterbury mutton 4£d per lb; market weak. • Lamb : We qnote to-day's yarne on Smithfield market of prime Canterbury lamb, 4sd per lb;-.-market weak." Messrs Dalgety and Co. report under date, London, September 12th : —" The new. arrivals for the fifth- series of wool sales which open on September 20th, have amounted to 88,000 bales, of which 24,000 bales have been forwarded direct to the manufacturers at Home and abroad, leaving with 7000 bales carried forward from the last series 71,000 bales available for the sale. We -understand that 8000 to 10,000 bales, second-hand will be offered in addition to the above." Note by Dalgety and Company:—"The quantity available for sale at the September sales this year is very mucfo less than is-usual at "these series. The figures for the correspondnig period of the tlrree pre: viinis vears are—lsß.Coo in 1903; 192,000 in 1902; 303,000 in 1901." THE ASHBURTON MARKETS. Per Press Association. ASHBTJRTON, September 13. There was an entry of 2000 sheep, and 20 cattle at the Ashbnrton yards to-day. The sale" was disappointing and dragging, and ajl classes of sheep were slightly easier. The following are prices:—Fat sheep: Crossbred wethers, 24s 9d, 16s 9d-; hoggets, 18s 6d, 18s'3d; crossbred ewes, 20s 3d, 18s Id; merino wethers, 13s 9d; freezing wethers, 23s 6d. Store sheep : Small crossbred wethers, off turnips, 18s, 14s sd; dry crossbred ewes, 12s lOd, 9s lOd; merino wethers 6s 9d; crossbred ewes, with lambs at foot (all counted), 12s lid, 6s; hoggets, 16s lid, 10s; crossbred ewes in lamb, * 22s 3d; aged' ditto, lis,- 10s. Store cattle : Springers, '£6 2s 6d, £2 ss; dry cows, £2 7s, £2; bull, £2 4s. Fat cattle: Steers, £lO 7s 6d; cows, £6 15s, £3; heifers, £6 7s 6d.
