TAIHAPE, September 10. _ The railway passenger service on this section of the main trunk line was inaugurated to-day. Owing to a difference among the townspeople, there was no ■celebration or display of -bunting. A deputation of backblocks settlers arrived in expectation of meeting the Minister for Public Works who had promised to be present but they ■were not advised of any alteration, and' are very indignant at their fruitless visit. An excursion train br&ught 400 passengers. The town had. a gloomy appearance and there was no sign of rejoicing.
