CORONATION OP HIS HOLINESS. _ , Received 114 p.m., August 10th. ROME, August W. The 50,000 pei-ons who were* invited filled the Ba«uica before ' the coronation, ceremony comme ced, and many thousands "of persons weie outside. The entire diplomatic body, the Italian aristocracy and many ladie weie present. Mr Thomas Esmonde, representing the Irish Parliamentarians, was present. The ceremon> mnrpied many hours. The Pope arrayed in pontifical rob'ss, with the mitre on his he;id accompanied the cardinals and seated himself on the throne. In the portico of the Basilica Cardinal Rampollo dch-veitl the speech of homage. Mass was celebrated, and at the moment of elevation the silver trumpets resounded from ■the top of the cupola, the people kneeling.; The Pope was then borne to' the podium before the altar of confession, where Cardinal Macchi removed the mitre,'replacing it with the jewelled tiara and pronounced the eni'thronisation.
The Pope exhibited deep ejjjotion and blessed the congregation in a loud and clear voice amid a burst of enthusiastic acclamation.
The much-fatigued Pope returned to the Vatican in a sedan chair.
