United Press Association—Per Electric ;. Telegr.iph—Copyright. Received 9.10 a.m., August 10th. LONDON, August 9.
- The "Daily Mail's" statement in regard to the report of the officials' of the Treasury and -Board of Trade on the. preference question .is not confirmed. The Labour members of the House of Commons have signed an appeal to the workmen of Canada, Australia and NewZealand, asking them .to defeat the fiscal proposals, whish, they say, amount to the taxing of food for the benefit of colonial workers. They add—" Mr Chamberlain wrongs you when he tells you to ask for preference. It a profound injustice,' and will never mean' the cementing tof inter,Imperial relations." / Received 11.48 p.m., August 10th. / The "Daily Express," on the highest authority, denies the "Mail's" fiscal, statement, and adds that the Government had asked the officials of the Treasury and Board of Trade to supply figures, not a report.
