The attendance was good, and as the wicket hud improved it played fast. Fane and Doweon continued the Englishmen's innings. There was slow play for the first half hour, then the batsmen tegan to score and quickly brought the century up, Dowson doing most of the scoring. A change to Pye and Noble from Howell and Mcßeath was relished by the partnership, Dowson punishing Pye severelv. The i\ew South Wales fielding was excellent. The century was recorded without a sundry. Fane played forward to Noble and snicked the ball into the hands of Pye at second slip.—Four for 119.—Bosanquet followed, and by fine leg hitting soon got into double figures and the total passed the New Scuth Wales' score. After lunch Howell and Pye were tried, but the batsmen wave well set, Bosanquet doing some powerful hitting and being particularly strong on the leg side. Dowson plaved a fine game, clean strokes all round the "field. The Englishmen added 100 runs for 90 minutes' play. Mcßeath missed a hot one from Dowson off Noble, the batsmen's first chance.
