CRICKET.

THE ENGLISHMEN IN AUSTRALIA. THE THIRD TEST MATCH. United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received 7.34 D.m.. January 21st. ADELAIDE, January 21. The cricket match was continued to-day in sultry and threatening weather. Ore end of the wicket was still perfect, but at the other end an extensive oblong patch was ■ worn, though it was rather short of a good length. The attendance was 5000 persons. Hayward and Tyldeslsy faced Tremble and Howell. Tyldesiey hit Trumble to the square leg boundary, and tw.> balls later cava Hili at short leg a sharp right-handed chance, which was not held. In Trumblc-'s next over he beat Hayward with a beautiful ball. Hayward was batting for an hour and 54- minutes. His innings was faultless, except for a- difficult chance at stumping late last night.—Two wickets for 113. —Tyldesiey and Quaife added 15 runs slowly, then the former was rut- out through over-eaaerness to run from.'a hard cut. ■which Trumper returned smartly. Jessop in 18 minutes knocked up 16 runs, including two fourers and one five before he was clean bowled by Tmmbie. The fourth wicket fell for 144. Braund played a lively innings fc-r 17. and at 165 was. bowled by Howell, who had relieved Noble. Quaifs and Lil'ey stayed till lnn-checn. when the total was 167. Quaife was batting for 65 minnte? for 10 runs.

\\ hen play was continued the wind was blowing trale. with the air full of dust. Howell and Trumble bowled, but the former was not troubling the batsmen, and at 194 McLeid relieved him, and in his second over just failed to reach a low return from Liliey, who had made 21. At 3 o'clock a tremendous sust of wind stapped the main flagpole of the members' reserve, and the ■upper halt fallinsr narrowly missed striking several people. The dust was so thick that the scoring board was unreadable, and play had to be suspended. The dust never ceased and at 5.20 p.m. the umpires after going out to "see whatthe weather was like drew the stumps. The experience was absolutely unique in cricket.
