This evening at Tekaraka a young man named John Fletcher attempted to shoot Miss Howe Chow, the eldest daughter of Mr George Howe Chow, owner cf the Tekaraka Hotel. Fletcher was on horseback at the time and was seized and disarmed. He was released and rode away. Later on he was found a mile awav in a critical condition. He had evidently" tried to poison himself with carbolic.
