TIMARU V. WINCHESTER. A most enjoyable match was played on the Athletic ground on Saturday afternoon between the Tiniaru and Winchester Cricket Clubs The weather proved delightful; the ground was in the pink of condition, and the game was witnessed by a good many spectators, including quite a number of "ladies. Winchester won the toss and Kalaughcr elected' to bat, but the team (which included four substitutes picked up on the ground) did not make a long stand before the fine bowling of Roar-

don, Broderick and Valentine, and the last -wicket fell for 59 runs; McCaskill 25, Mcleod 9, and Whitton 8, being the principal contributors. Timaru had a very strong batting team, but Kalaugher and D. McCaskill were dead on the wicket, and the innings closed for 67 runs. The fielding of the Winchester team was splendid, and not a single chance was declined by either team in the game. For the home team. Adcock 14, Dr Reid 12, and Dalgleish. who played up grandly for 16 runs at a very critical point in the game, reached double injures. Mrs Raymond .provided delicious afternoon tea. The return match I will be played at Winchester on December I 12th. wnen another interesting game is J .sure to result. ' I
