GERALDTNE LIVE STOCK MARKET.

There was a fair attendance at the Geraldine live stock market yesterday and a good sale. There was a good entry of sheep which sold at the following prices:—Two-tooth wethers, 17s, 17s 6d and 17s 9i; store wethers, 13s 3d to 14s; three-quarter bred wethers, 16s; ewes in lamb, 10s 6d, lis and lis 3d; threequarter bred hoggets, lis 4d, 12s, 133 and 13s lid; half-bred ewes, lis Id; fat ewes 12s. There was a medium entry of cattle. - Springing cows brought £5 12s 6d; cows in prefit, £5,. £3 10s and £3 15s; springers, £5 lCs to £5 15s; 18-months old steers, £3;\ fat heifer, £5 10s; yearlings, _5Gs, £2, and £2 2s. There was a good entry of "pigs. Stores sold at lis 6d, 12s 6d, and 14s 3d; weaners, Is 6d, 3s 3d, ss, 6s, 8s 6d, 9s, and 12s. Fowls brought Is 3d each. After the live stock sale Mr Mundell offered in the estate of the late Mr P. Clancy several horses. Hacks sold from £7 15s to £ll 10s.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 21.

Cattle. —At Addmgton to-day, 169 fat cattle, mostly prime steers and heifers, were yarded. There was a brisk sale at 20s to 25s per lOGlb. Special lines of steers brought £l9 10s to £ll 10s, do. -heifers £lO to £lO 10s, North Island bullocks £lO 12s 6d to £ll ss, ordinary entries—prime steers £9 to £lO, lighter £7 15s to £8 lCs, prime heifers £8 to £9" 10s, lighter £5 16s to £7 10s, prime heavy cows £7 lCs to £9 12s 6d, others £5 2s 6d let £7. Store cattle—£l Bs, vearlings to 15-months-old £1 16s to £2 3s, 15 to 18-months-old £2 13s 6d •to £3 7s, 2-year-old heifers 45s to £4 Bs, do. £4 7s to '£4 15s, dairy cows £3 10s to £8 ss.

Sheep.—About 2000 fat sheep were penned, mostly poor wethers and ewes, and a few good merino wethers. Export buyers competed more,. keenly ? for all classes of sheep. Fair and heavy wethers brought, up to 26s 6d, freezers 17s to 20s 6d, prime ewes 16s to 17s 9d, others 14s to 15s 6d, prime merino wethers las to 17s 6a, otners 12s 6d to 14s 6d. 2700 store sheep were penned, nearly all wethers and hoggets. There was a fair sale. Forward wethers brought 15s 2d to 17s, backward 12s 6d to 13s 2d, forward hoggets 12s lld/to 14s 6d, others lis lid to 12s 3d, cull ewes lis 9d.

Bigs.—33o pigs, including very prime fats, were penned'. There was a good sale, and prices were firmer. Baconers fetched 44s to 59s (average 3fd), porkers 22s to 32s (equal to 4d), stores 10s 6d to 18s 6d, suckers and weaners 5s to 9s. DUXEDIN MARKETS. €_ DUNEDISr, August 21. %• Cattle.—At Buraside market 179 head of fat cattle were yarded, but the quality was not up to the average. There was . a good demand for good beef, which brought fully last week's rates. Best bullocks brought £lO to £ll 7s 6d, medium £8 ICs to £9 16s, light and inferior £5 V-- to £7 ss, best cows £7 10s to £8 12s 6d, medium £6 to £7, light and inferior £4 to £5.
