At the wool sales there was fair competition" for best parcels, the prices for which were -on a par with the closing rates of the May sales. Quotations for medium sorts are exchanged. ' Messrs Dalgety and Co. report under date, London, July 3rd—"The wool sales continue more animated and prices are firmer for good qualities, but unchanged for inferior. For good greasy merino prices are nearly on a par with the closing rates of last series. Since our last telegram, mutton tallow is unchanged; but beef tallow is higher by 3d per cwt." The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited, have received the following information by cable from their London office:—Wheat—We quote today's value on Mark Lane New Zealand wheat, sellers of long berried 29s 3d per quarter of 4961hs ex store. Market lifeless, no demand. Frozen meat—We quote to-day's value on Smithfield Market of prime Canterbury mutton, 2s lOd per stone of 81bs; market steady. Prime Canterbury lambs, 3s 8d per stone of 81bs; market steady. Wool—The wool sales opened as compared with the last series with merinos, at 5 per cent, reduction, fine halfbred 5 per cent, reduction, crossbreds 5 per cent, reduction; medium has declined 7£ per cent.
