At the police enquiry to-day further sensational evidence was given. O:io witness suspected a rmn who was employed by a local butcher of committing the Gatton murders. Ho mentioned his suspicion lo the deteetivps, who told him to " shut up," a* the imn was innocent. Witness saw fifty or sixty blood fplashe3 on the man's jumper, which could not be accounted for by carrying meat. Another witness saw the same man at night near the spot just prior to the murders. A constable in his evidence accused a detective of screening this mm.
