United Press Association— Per Electric Telegraph— Copyright. Received June 9th, 9.30 a.m. SERIOUS FIRE. Thursday Island, June 9. A fire destroyed Burns' and Phillips' Btores and Tattersall's Hotel. The damage amounted to £10,000. BURNING FATALITY. Sydney, June 9. An old woman named Grant has been burned to death m a fire at Waratah, which destroyed the private residence of Major Taylor, of the Fourth Infantry, THE LINDUS ENQUIRY. At the enquiry concerning the wreck of the Lindus, the harbourmaster deposed that the entrance to Newcastle harbour-had shoaled considerably to the northward of the fairway. It was impossible to alter the leading lights without blasting away a large area of the channel. Received June 9th, 2.55 p.m. SHOCKING TRAGEDY. A tragedy has occurred at Woollhara. Mrs Kidney, who was suffering from dementia, drowned her infant m a tub of water and herself m a bath. THE CELTIC. The American transport Celtic has arrived from Manila to load provisions. THE STAR OF VICTORIA. Sailed— Star of Victoria, for Auckland. THE VICTORIAN RAILWAYS. Melbourne, June 9. It is estimated that the year will end with a deficit of £395,000 m the railway accounts. . . Received June 10th, 12.20 a.m. MURDER. Brisbane, June 9. William Bonnor has been arrested on suspicion for the Weaver murder. ;
