THE SILYERSTREAM MURDER CASE.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 7. An affidavit has been forwarded by Mr Jellieoe to the Government alleging that Philpott's trial was prejudiced by the sensational reports and photos publisned by the uowspapers, and that the jury perhaps unconsciously shared that prejudice. Mr Jellieoe also alleges that there were circumstances m connection with the trial inimical to the interests of justice. Unfair latitude was given to counsel for the Crown, and the Judge who presided did not preserve so colourless an attitude as was necessary m an issue, involving life or death.
