Pbr Elecirio Telegraph — Copyright. Per Press association. London, September 9. The United Workers' Society are urging the engineers to abandon their demands for eight hours as a day's labour. Many other branches of labour are striking for the eight hours' concession. The Trades Union Congress, sitting at Birmingham, passed resolutions denouncing the Conspiracy Acts as unjust to the workers, and in support of the Miners' demand for an eight hours' day. The Trades Union Congress have adopted resolutions in favour of the abolition of all overtime ; demanding that workmen who sit on juries be paid ; an amendment of the poor law, removing disabilities following upon the acceptance of temporary relief ; reductions of the hours of labour of domestic servants under eighteen years of age to seventy hours per week ; and the prohibition of child labour under fifteen and night work under eighteen years of age. September 10. The Trades Union Congress passed resolutions demanding the nationalisation of land, mines, minerals, royalties, rents, railways, waterways, and the municipalisation of the water and lighting rights, and tramways ; also the payment of fair wages in Government dockyards.
