BURN SIDE MARKETS.

DUNEDIN, March 31. CATTLE, 228 head of fat cattle were yarded, which proved beyond requirements, consequently slightly lower rates had to be accepted in most cases, whilst a few pens were turned out. Best bullocks sold at £7 28 6d to £8, medium £6 to £7, others £4 to £5 10s, best cows £5 to £6, others £3 10s to £4 15s. SHEEP. 2049 fat sheep were penned. Butchers having been short of good mutton last week there was good com etition at prices a shade better than last week. Best crossbred wethers sold at 11s to 12s 3d, medium 9=t 6d to 10s 6d,' others tfs 6d to 9fl 3d, beat ewes 8e 6d to 9b 3d,

PIGSi 127 pigs were penned. Suckers sold at 5s to 9s, slips 12s to 15s, stores 16s to 20s, porkers 23s to 295, baconers 30s to 345, extra heavy 435. I grain. 1 Wheat.'-Thiß inarket continues firm, and all lines of prime milling quality are readily saleable at late quotations. Prime velvet is in most request, and for this clasa there is a good enquiry. In--1 deed, for all sorts the tone,' of the market is good without any distinct adv <nce on late values. Prime milling velvet is 1 quoted at 4s Id to 4s 3d, tuscan, etc., 3? < lid to 4s Id, medium milling 3s 8d to 3a J, lid, whole fowl wheat 3s 3d to 357d f ' broken 2s 6d to 3s 3d ; sacks in.
