WELLINGTON, August 8.
F. Philpott for forgery and uttering, was sentenced to two veavs' hard labour. The jury were unable to agree m the case of William Smith forfalse pretences and were discharged. A new trial wap rdered.
CHRISTCHURCH. August 6
At the. Supreme Court silting this morning Judge Dcimistou referred m feeling "terms to the death of ■ Judye Richmond. Mr Wpston, on behalf of the Bar, also spoke eulogising I lie ileicnsod m particular for his uniform courtesy and consideration for the profession. The Court then adjourned, out of respect to the memory of the late Judge.
