By Telegraph. CHRISTCHURCH, June 19. The weather was bitterly cold for the live stock market to-day. The attendance was not large, being confined entirely to those whose business forced them to be m attendance. The entries were small m all classes except pigs. The entry was mixed, and contained some , very prime steers and a large number of inferior cows and heifers. Steers brought £5 5s to £9, heifers £4 10s to £6 15s, cows £4 7s to £8 7s 6d. There was a small entry of dairy cows and springeis not up to the mark, and business was done with difficulty at late rates. There were no quotable lines m the store cattle pens, only. , about 20 old cows coming forward. SHEEP. About 3000 fat sheep were offered, and their quality was decidedly inferior". Only a few pens of freezing sheep and a line or two of heavy-weight ewes were worthy of mention. The market opened fairly well, and last week's rates were maintained for all "sheep of passable quality. Heavy-weight crossbred wethers fetched 12s to 14s 9d, do. ewes 11s to 13s 6d, freezing wethers 10s 9d to 12s 6d, mixed sexes 10s to 11s 6d, maiden ewes, two and 4-tooth, 9s to 12s, butchers' best ewes 8s 6d tolos6d, medium do. 6s to 88, merino wethers 7s to 10s 9d, ewes 3s 6d to 6s. Between 4000 and .5000 store sheep were offered, the entry being principally turnipers and hoggets: A fair clearance was made at last week's prices. Good forward 2-tooth crossbred wethers brought from 8s 6d to 10s 6d, mixed 2-tooths from 7s to 9s, a line' ©f half bred Downs, up to 9s 9d, ewes m lamb 5s 9d to 7s 6d, and hoggets 6s to 7s 3d. ' .
