With reference to the Sewell process of packing butter, the saving m freight is not so much as appears at first sight. The butter is placed m square cases and then put into kegs, so that there is a clear space on all sides, and these spaces befng filled with brine, owing to the rotundity of the kegs, .take up much more room. In addition to which they are only partially filled. The butter experts consider that at the outside the process will not give more than 4s 4d per hundredweight, and even this
