DUNEDIN. September 19. CATTLE. 141 head of f%t cattle were yarded. Competition was fairly active, but prices were hardly up to last week. Best bullocks brought £9 15s to £10 17s 6d, medium to good £1 17s (3d to £9 ss, light weights <£6 2s 6d to £1 ss, best cows £7 5s to .£3 15s, one pen extra prime £9 2s 6d, medium to good ,£s los to <£f> 15s, light and aged M 10s to £i 12s 6d. SHEEP. 2281 fat sheep were penned, of which 500 were merino wethers. The trade purchased pretty freely, and with some demand for freezers, the prices ruling, especially for best sheep, compare favourably with last week's. Best crossbred wethers brought 15a 6d to 17s (Id, three pens extra prime sold by us at 18s to Ids 9d, medium to good 13a 6d to 15s 3d, light 8s 9d to 12; 3d, best do ewes 13s to 14a, light weights and medium quality 8s 3d to 12s 3d, merino wethers 4s 6d to 93 6d, extra prime 10s 6d to 12a 9d. GRAIN. Wheat. — There is no change to record. Fowls' wheat is somewhat scarce, and a moderate supply could be readily placer). We quote prime milling velvet at 2s lOd to 2s lid, good to best do and best tuscan 2s 9d to 2s lOd, good to best red wheat 2s 9d to 2a lOd, medium 2s 6d to 2s 7d, inferior to medium 2a 3d to 28 6d, broken Is 9d to 2s 2d (ex store, sacks weighed m; terms). Oats.— There is a little more inquiry, and a good many clearances have been affected, though this could be done only by meeting ahipDers. Now that sellers are more disposed to quit at lower prioes a good deal more business is being put through. At the same time buyers are only purchasing to satisfy orJors already on band, as advices from Australia are not encouraging enough to warrant speculation. Quotations are— For primo milling Is 5d to Is s£d, beat short bright feed Is 4id to Is 4£d, medium Is 3jd to Is 4d, inferior and musty Is 2d to Is 3jd (ex store, sacks extra ; net). Barley. —Very little is being done. Stocks re low and m few handa, but sufficient m the can time for requirements. Quotations are For prime malting 3s 6d to 3s 9d, extra oico fa, medium to good 3s to 3s 3d, milling 3d to 2s 9d, feed Is 8d to 2s (ex store, Backs tra).
