ADDINGTON MARKET.
(By Tbijs&baph) CHRISTCHUECH. September 19. There were large ontriea and a good attendance at Addington market to-day. CATTLE. The fat oattle pens were well filled, but the beat beasts were sold privately. Those that came under the hammer wera lifrht weights, and sold at about 25s per lOOlbs. Steers fetched .£G to JEB 17s 6d, heifers .£s l2s 6d to J6B 53, cows .£5 to £Q 123. Good milking- cows sold readily, but inferior sorts wore neglected. There was the largest entry o£ store oattle for some time. Three and 4-year-old steerß sold up to <£6, 2-year-olds 10b to £1 12s 6d, yearlings and 18 months old mixed oattle 30s to 60s. SHEEP. The fat sheep pens were well filled, and though quite half were merinos, the majority of these were really prime. Crossbred prime heavy weights fetched 18a to 245, freezing quality 16a to 18s 6d, secondary sorts 12s 6d to 15s, best crossbred ewes 13s to 19s, secondary 9s 6d to 12s 6d, best merino wethers 12s to 17s Id, seoondary 7s to 10s, merino ewes 5a to 10s. Thore was a fair em.ry of store sheep. Hoggets brought 9s io 11s 6d, 2-tooths up to 12s 9d. PIGS. The eupply of pig 3 was moderate, and the Bale was decidedly erratic, animals of the same quality varying m price from 3d to 4d per lb'
