(bT XBXRaBAPH ) NAPIKK, OCTOBEE 6. The Agricultural and Pastoral fciooiety's Show commenced yesterday' As usual the day was devoted to judging sheep. For tbe second time tingle judges were employed, and tbe reeult gave muob greater satisfaction than under the old system of two judges in eaoh class. Merinos were not very numerous, only two breeders exhibiting. Mr Douglas McLean, of Marat kakaho, swept the board of all the principal prizes. Longwools are in great foroe. In i-inclns the champion awards went to A. Kirkhsm, with a ram imported by J. W. Williams and a ewe bred by T. Tanner. None of the South Island bred oheep in the Lincolns got prizes. A. McHardy and A. McKay wore also very successful. Leioeßters were not numerous. S. D. Tanner took most awards with sheep of his own breeding, but tbo ohiof ewe prizes went to sheep bred by W. Grey, Otago, and exhibited by W. Nelton. Bomney Marsh were greatly in evidence, and there were many exhibitors from Wellington, lhe chief awards went to a ram bred by Mr Grey, of tbo Wairarapa, shown by J. N. Wilson, and a ewe bred by A. Matthews, also shown by Wilson. W. B. Allen, Wairarapa, €h Wheeler, Halcombe, B. D. Tanner and R. Harding were also successful exhibitors. Several of (he prize-takers were bred by J. Reid, Canterbury. In Shropibires the chief awards want to the North British and Hawke'e Bay Freezing Company for sheep imported from tbe fl-ck of W. Buttars, Sootland. The numerous large pens of loDgwools constituted one of the prinoipal features of i the show.
