o COMMENTS ON THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. (Pbr Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) (Pee Press Association.) (Received noon, July 11th.) Sydney, July 10. Referring to Saturday's match the Herald Bays :— " The result was brought about, not more by the superiority of the home team, than by the evident ataleneas of the New Zealanderß. Soon after play started it waß seen that the visitors were nob the players of a week ago, and m fact they plainly Bhowed they were playing too many matches during the tour." The Daily Telegraph says that while the reason of the defeat is stated to be ataleneaa, it is inclined to the opinion that the victory was m a great measure due to the lessons taught the home team on the previous Saturday, and to the discovery that the visitors are not the champions that most people expected. (By Tblkgbaph.) WELLINGTON. July 10. Commenting on the extraordinary reversal of form of the New Zealand team, the Times sayi it ia cow evident that those who considered the selection committee had made a mistake m the ohoioe of forwards were right. Strong exception was taken at the time to the exclusion of several men who were considered to be batter than most of the others m the team, but the committee's repiy waa that they bad purposely chosen players of the fast, dubing order. Tb« Seoretary of the New Zealand Bugby Union has oabled instructing the team not to arrange any matches for this week so that the men may be able to rest until Saturday, when they play Queensland. He also asked the manager of the team t*> endeavour to arrange a return match against New South Wales on the day they leave for New Zealand, which will be the 26th or 27th instant. The Evening Post says that the collapse of i the football team on Saturday is partially to be attributed to the severe knocking about which \ the men received at Paramatta on the day on which they landed. It quotes a private letter, showing that they were very roughly handled, and it believes that they have never properly recovered from it* ilerrold m particular lias never been able to play since.
