CHRISTCHTJRCH. Oct. 15. There was a small market m most lines, the predominant feature being fat lambs and sheep. SHEKP. Under 2000 were entered, of which tho greater portion were crossbred ewes and lambs, with a few shorn sheep. Tho former realised 13s, 10s, and up to 20s «d for fair m small lots. Crossbred hoggnts realised 14s 2d, 2-tootha m I wool brought 103 7d and ltootbs 11s 7d. I There were about 110 lambs entered for sale, I none being of special quality, but the best realised 14s Gd. So keen was the demand, several being secured for freezing, while the trade was eager to secure tho quantity required. There was a comparatively small entry of fat sheep and a good demand. The prices secured for ordinary 'crossbredß was inoch abont the same as last week, but at tho close of the sale the demand kept np, and if anything a rise was noticed. Beat crossbred wethers brought from 18s to 22s -id, and ewes and lightweights sold m proportion. CATTLE. Only a limited supply of 105 head of fat cattle caused increased activity m the beef market, the re3nlt being that none of the beasts yarded brought less than from 25a to 28s per lOOlhs, while a special line of primo quality realised np to 30a per lOOlba. Tbe entry of store cattle was a very small one, comprising chiefly odd lots and A number of dry cows. The only special lines were 3-year-old gteers which brought up to £4 12a 6d, and heifers to JB3 10a. pios. There waa a very small entry, consisting entirely of porkers. Store pigs are anxiously enquired for.
