MEETING OF CREDITORS.

Pursuant to an order made by the District Court on the sth AugUßt, that all creditors of David Denoon were at liberty to prove their debts notwithstanding that more than four months had elapsed since the date of bankruptcy, and the time having expired for the admission of such proof yesterday, the Deputy Assignee (Mr D. M. Boss) held a meeting of tbs oreditors yesterday when there were present — Messrs Suiter, Jonas, Morrison, PearDoint, Kerr, Flatman, Twomey and White. Mr J. W. White appeared for the assignee, and Mr Raymond for the bankrupt and Mr Pearpoint. The debtor, examined on oath, said that after the application for his discharge he received a letter from Falkirk, Scotland, enclosing a copy of a trust disposit tion of his deceased brother's proporty and of a property at Camelon, 12 miles from Falkirk, comprising a cottage and store and land. Bankrupt took tho documents to Pearpoint, of Geraldine, who kept possession of them. This was 16 months ago. Bankrupt wrote to the Home lawyers stating he was bankrupt and that the property would belong to bis creditors. Later on be received another letter from a Mr Allen enclosing a power of attorney for bis signature m Allen's favour. Ibis document was also shown to Pearpoint and bankrupt signed it m Pear* | point's presence as a J.P. and sent the power lof attorney Home. The power was limited, not to sell until Allen got instructions. The latt«r had been acting as factor for the property. The rental for the store was £85 per year, and the cottage was ocoupied by bank' rupt'a brother's widow. From valuations bankrupt judged the property w^s worth from £400 to £450, subjeot to a" mortgage of £195, besides payment per annum to th» widow. A long discussion followed on an offer of tho bankrupt to pay 2» 6d m the £, the offer at last being accepted, on the motion of Mr Kerr, seconded by Mr Pearpoint, for all the creditors whoso proofs wero before tho meeting conditionally on the money being puid within 7 days, Mr E. U. Morrison's proof to be examined by the Assignee m the meantime.
