Mr Eugene Marchand, of St. Jerome, Que., July 28th, 18S9, writea : " Last week I met a gentleman from Springfield, and I noticed he carried a fine gold watch m one pocket and a Waterbury m the other. I asked why. He said he kept tho Waterbury to Beo if liib other watch ran well, and he was m earnest, for ho worked m a mill where they bad dynamos, and they played the dickens with the gold watch, while the Waterbury kept ticking as regularly as ever."
