Messrs J. B. Rutland and Co., auctionaers. and prodnco merchants, report for the week ending August 23rd : — Potatoes—Vory well sustained bnsiness. Several lots of good Derwents have been placed at 50s, and small lots at sis ; kidneys they have a store fall of, and nntil the last few days very little demand. Early seed potatoes 121 bto GOlb packages are now Belling 1 freely at from id to Id to Id per lb., Danish oats Is ljd to Is 3d, fowl wheat 83 to 103 per sack, fresh butter 9d to Is Id, eggs 8d to 9d, lard m small packages 6d, good apples ljd to 2d, dairy fed pork 3d to 3*d, fowls (chickens) Is 3d to Is 6d, good table do 2s 6d to 3s, ducks 3s 6d to 4s, turkeys 03 to 7s 6d. They also sold on Saturday about three dray loads of assorted furniture at good prices, and cleared the nsnal collection of snndrie3 satisfactorily. Throughout the day their large rooms were crowded v»ith buyers and sellers, and the firm congratulate themselves upon their establishment becoming the most popular business rendezvons m town.
