' The Radical Reform League at a special meeting last night, resolved to prepare test questions to be put to parliamentary candidates at the next election m reference to the connection between the depreciation of gold and the growing industrial depression. The board passed a resolution asking Government to appoint a Royal Commission to enquire into the differences, with a view to bringing about an improved state of iiffuir?, nB at present there is a deadlock, and work is being delayed. Tho question has been under consideration of Government, but nothing will be done until a meeting of the full Cabinet which is expected to be next •w»ek. Daniel Maloney, charged with horse-stealing, received two years, and Mary Brown for larceny from a dwelling, received eighteen months. Only one other criminal case has to be tried. Oamahix, Oct. 21. Application has been made by the police authorities to have the body of the child supposed to hare been done away with by Mrs Sorgenson exhumed to enable examination to be made to ascertain whether murder had been committed. Dunbdik, Oct. 21. Henry Percy Fisher, tho notorious convict who was sentenced at last criminal sittings to three year's imprisonment, succeeded m making his escape from the hard labor gang at the Heads this afternoon, and had not been captured when darkness came on. Tho gold escort arrived m town to-night with gold valued at £20,000. At the official declaration of the poll for Dunedin Central there was no change m the figures. The candidates made short speeches.
