FIRE AT TE AWAMUTU.
[By' Telegraph.] Auckland, Aug. 31. The house of Mrs McCabe, a settler near To Awamutu, was burned down on Sunday with the oontenta. The family had a wonderfully narrow escape. Mrs MeCabo was aroused at 2 a.m. by one of the children, and on opening the door to'get boUib water, was met by a volume of smoke and (lame. The family escaped m their n)gh£-dre6ses, a portion of the roof falling m before they had got out of the burmug building. The insurances are £200 m tho South British.
