Now Zealand securities— s per cent 10-40 loan is unaltered ; 4h per cent 1870-1904 loan, 104J ; 4 por cent inacribed stock, lOli. The Bank rate is at 4 por cent, and the market rate 2\. Sydney sundried copra, £15 0s per ton. Leather ia quoted at 11 jd per Ib. Broadstuffa are unchanged. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,610,000 quarters. New Zealand frozen mutton has advanced m value, and now realises 5.Jd to s^d per Ib. "Tallow has also improved. Australian beef tallow of fair average quality fetches 2Cs per cwt, while mutton brings 26s 6d. Jan. 16. The Daily Telegraph to-day announces that m consequence o£ the recent increase of boycotting m Ireland, it has been resolved to re-enact the clause m the Preventfon of Critne3 Act, dealing with that oifence. It is announced that Mr Edward Stanhope has been appointed Chief Secretary of Ireland, m place of Sir William Hart Dyke, and will be entrusted with executive powers. Jan. 17. The announcement of the appointment of Dr Moorhouse as Bishop of Manchester ■was received with feelings of gratification by the clerical authorities of England. Constantinople, Jan. 16. It is announced that King Milan of Servia declines to accede to the request of the European Powers to demobilise hia forces, on the ground that peace is not assured. Prince Alexander of Bulgaria has expressed his willingness to disarm his troops when Servia does so.
