GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
[TO THE EDITOR OF THK TIMARU HERALD. Sib,— ln your report of the last meeting of the Geraldine Town Board re illegal rescue, you. say all the members objected to the language used in my letter, and that I withdrew the letter. They aaked me to withdraw it, and give an explanation, which I am sorry to say I did, but I gave no apology, for! which they asked by resolution on a former occasion, adding that if I did so the matter would be settled. Now about the fearful language addrensed to them. I will give it in full. "To the Chairman of the Geraldine Town Board. Sir,— l beg to acknowledge the receipt of the Clerk's letter of the 3rd j December, 1885, on behalf of the Board, and wish' to aay it was rather an unmanly I and cowardly act for the Board to pass such a resolution in my absence without ever giving me the slightest chance cf proving my innocence. Under the cireum>tancea, I will leave it to the Board to deal with it as they think fit" I want to know where is the fearful language in that ? Was their modesty shocked when they did write to me saying if I would apologile to the Board no further atepn would, bo taken in the matter ? I want to know what they did want. If that letter would not satisfy them, did'nt they know the law. I am, etc., Thomas Farekll. 7th January, 1986.
