At 2.30 a.m. to-day, a six-roomed house at Opuwa owned and occupied by John Butler, a railway servant, was burned down. It waa insured m the National office for £300. Butler was awakene'l by tho smoke and had hardly titno to save his family. Very little of his furniture, which was * uninsured, wM saved. It is not known how tho fire wag caused. At a quarter to two this afternoon, two small cottages at Spreydon, belonging to a storekeeper named Casbolt were burned. The fire broke out m one of them occupied by F.
