The ordinary monthly meeting of the Levels Boad Board was held yesterday, whon all the members were present. MINUTES. OOKBBiPONDKNOB. The following correspondence was road and dealt with : — From Mr James Rortgors, asking for improvements on the road lending to his house at Sultwater Creek. The Oferseer was ordered to report upon the same at noit meotlng. A petition wot received from the inhabi-

tants of Kensington, asking that the road be ' formed and shingled. - The Overeeer to report at neit meeting. From the residents on the Upper Wash- - 11 n' " Sking that tUe 6ftme be metalled, he Overseer was instructed to ascertain tlie cost and report at noxt meeting. i<rom the Secretary to the Pareora School Committee, calling attention to the state of the road at the school and sehoolhouse.— The Overseer to report upon tho same. A letter from Mr R. Shaw m reference to survey of road new Mr Balfour's was left to be considered at next meeting. OVEBSKBR'S EEPOBT. -Iho Overseer's report was read as follows :— "In accordance with the resolutions of Inst meeting I have the honor to report as follows : — " Messrs Fanning and Stonyer's application for repairs of road, also the closing up of road— l have called for tenders for 200 yards of white stone metal, as instructed, for repairs on this road, and I have also seen B acefield with regard to the closing of the road, and ne^objects to its being closed. "J naTa arranged to get the -work re niired to be dono to give access to the Tengawai joolehed. I did not think it would be desirable to form and shingle it, an it is principally saud. "Mr Guscott's application for shingling the road running past his properly - The distance is about 90 chains, and tho cost would bo about £—. I may state that this is tho only portion of the road m that district that has not boen shingled. "I was not able to arrange a meeting of the Committee appointed to inspect the cutting at the Island Hut, but would ask the Committee to arrange tho meeting today. " I haTe had a pipe culvert put m on the Main Road near Pareora, as the old wooden one was entirely rotten. 1 have also had the bridgo near Bobinson's repaired, and it is now perfectly safe. I would recommend that some restriction be made as to travelling over theso country bridges with traction engines and combines attached, as I am quite sure that many of them, although perfectly sound for ordinary traffic, cannot stand the oicessivo weight of traction engines. 1 have not been aMe to get the fence put up on the roadside through Mr Newton's land, but will do so during the month. I have not yet received any reply from Government as to tho grant for roads on Reserve 1263. Tho work has been completed a month, and the Board will have to pay the contractors. '' Tho road roller hos been removed from the late Mr HugginB 1 premises to the Road Board ynrd. " Tenders will bo laid before you for shingling Levels Valley Road, repairing Seadown to Beach Road, and for supplying 200 yards of white stone metal. All contracts that were m hand have been satisfactorily completed with the exception of Courtis' on The Brothers, which I have not yet seen, but have passed a voucher subject to its being satisfactory. Contract No. , 20: Seadown Beach Road— Rodgers, £20; Toaer, £18 ; Stevenson, £22 10s ; Crozier, ' £10 (accepted). ' ACCOUNTS.
