A large and enthusiastic meeting wns held m the Town Hall last night to initiate a movement for the erection of a atatuo to tho late General Gordon. Resolutions were unanimously adopted approving of tho project, and a large number of subscriptions were, promised among those present, who numbered fully 4000. The prisoners, Alexander Ross and Milne Smith, who were recently arrested on a charge of being connected m an extensive robbery from the London Chartered Bank at Horsham m March, 1884, were examined yeaterday and were remanded for further evidence.
