On settling into tride, the order became Randwick and Rose l«ar of everything, side by side, Hilda hil'd, followed by Sir George, Senorita, nd Duchess. This order continued until he turn past the Stand where Randwiok ran ride and let up Hilda. Under the hill, Bose nd Senorita-fell back last, and Grand Duchess ook third place. On the far side, Handrick again took first place inside running, lilda, however, sticking to him and at the oad resuming the lead but nerer getting lear. On turning into the straight, Duohess ,t once went up to the leaders, and baring hem at the whip at the diitance, went on ,nd wen Tory comfortably by a length and a ialf, Randwick a half length behind Hilda. The second day's Spring Meeting was Tory successful. There was a large attendance of the public and the weather was again very fine. Though the fie.di were small the racei were well contested. There was Tery little belting, but the totaliaatora did a good buiinesi. None of the usual games of chance were allowed by the police, consequently it was rather dull for the public during the intervals. Tbo course is being greatly improved, the running track having been levelled and raised, and the Stewards hope by next year to hive one of the fasteit courses m the colony. The tan gallop has also been improved. It is intended to build a peoplo'f •tand close to the present one. Co the first race the outside totalisator went all wrong, as instead of paying 15s dividend £2 Is was paid to a number of ticket holders. All the arrangements were complete, and the ofiiocrs of tho Olub deserve credit for the way everything wu carried out. Huhtbbs' Plate, of 40 sovb. Two miles. Mr Butler'a Agent, 12st 12lb (I. Katerfelto cleared tbs first hurdle a length clear of Agent. Agent was then pulled back and pasted by Trovatore and Isaac. AU four jumped fairly, no change taking place till a mile and a half had been covered, when Trovstore took the lead, and Agent clossd on his horses. A quarter of a mile further the hones were m a cluster. Katorfolto made an effort to get first, but he died away. The Agent then took a clear lead, bsing three lengths ahead coming into the straight, and won with ease, hands down. A good race took place between Isaac and Trovatore for second place, the former winning by a head. Time — train 36sec. Pbbsidbnt's Hakdioap, of 70 eovt. One mile and a half. Mr O'Brien's Tasman, 6st 121 b (J. Williams) X Messrn Mason and Vallauci's Volunteer, Bst 51b (Webster) 2 Mr Goodman's Chancellor, 9st lib (H. Thomson) 3 Adamant also started. Of £388 m the totalisator £100 wu on tbt winner. A good start was effected, Tasman slightly m front. On reaohing the Stand the favorile, Chancellor, had rnn up abroaifc of Taoman, the pair leading Volunteer by a length, Adamant fully three lengths behind the latter all the way round. At the back of the course O'Brien's colt had half a length advantage of Chancellor, till at a quarter of a mile from the finish Volunteer camo with a great run, Adamant also closing up. Tho lot woro all m a cluster at the entrance to the straight, Volunteer and Tasman m the van, and as Adamant aid Chancellor, both shortly afterwards cried a go, the finish was left to the leading pair. Half way up the straight Webster, by strenuous efforts, got Volunteer's head m. front of Taiman, but, Williams rode a magnificent finish on the latter, fairly driving him along, >nd two or three strides from the post the colt got his nose m front of the older horse and just managed to pass the post a winner by a short half head. Chancellor who ea»ed up when pursuit was hopclejs, was third, Adnmant last. Time— From fall of the flog, 2miu 47ieo j from proper starting poiot, 2min 43iec. O'Brien's Tictory was loudly cheered, and tho good riding of Williams, who is a Victorian jockey, reccired special recognition. Sbllikg Kace, of 30 sots. One mile and a distance. JEugenie was tbo first to show m the van, followed by Emerald. At the back of the :our«e Tatdburet got into second place, but Eugenic had the foot of them all, winning jomfortably, Yaldburst second, and Chief third. Time— 2min lObpc. Nautilus got away first, legerdomain ouiing next. At the back of tho course, fautitus rushed to the f ront,MWeluke taking ocond place, and Legerdemain coming up fast, k- little further on Legerdemain took second i|»ce, Mameluke falling back. Talent made n effort m the straight, but never got on er'ns with Nautilus, who won comfortably iy three length*.
