Dunedin, Nov. 29. ; Mr Gillies intends to move at Wednesday's meeting of the Education Board that immediate action be taken with the . riew of securing a lady principal for the Girls' High School, and a, rector for the Boys' High School, and that it be referred to Professor Shand, the Secretary, and Mir Jasper to prepare a recommendation to be considered at the adjourned meeting. ' Considerable damage was done on I Tuesday night to the Mataura telegraph office by lightning ; the telegraph post within a few yards of the office was shatr tered to fragments, and three cells of the battery were burst m the case. ■ ; Aitcheson, who has been charged with incest, was dismissed- The child was over twelve years of age. Horrible revelations were made. The Magistrate m dismissing the prisoner designated him a polluted scoundrel.
Resident Magistbate's Coubt, Waimate.—On Tuesday last, before M.Studholme, Esq., J.P., the police charged a man with being drank and disorderly on the previous evening. The accused pleaded guilty, ana i£ being the fint offence charged against him; he was dismissed with a caution. Yesterday, before the same Justice of the Peace, an inebriate was charged with being drunk and disorderly. The prisoner pleaded guilty, and was dismissed with a caution.
