Andrew Samuel Creamore was brought up on remand from Friday the 22nd instant, on *a charge of forgiug and uttering a cheque for Alison McKay : 1 keep a boarding-house m Timaru. I sent it by my brother to get it cashed. He came baok and said he could- notget it cashed. I weut to the Bauk of New Zealand on the following Monday morning. I was told that Mi- Young did not bank at that bank. I presented it theu to the Union Bank. I was told by the manager that it •was not Mr Young's signature. He. said he would ddsh'i it if I endorsed it, and was going to give me ' change, but on looking at the date' ofvthe ' £10 cheque, said he did not think it waa Mr Young's handwriting. I then took it hack; I aud returned it to Mrs McKay. William Willis : lam a sergeant qf police, ' stationed at Timaru. I arrested the prisoner I on the 12th instant.
