GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was heid at the Road Board office, on the 15th inßtant. Present — Messrs W. K. Macdonald, S. Medlicott, and Dr Kayner. Mr W. K. Macdonald having been moved to the chair, the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read : — From the Secretary to the Timaru and Gladstone Board of Works, stating that he had paid to the credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand, Timaru, the sum of £170 10s, being amount due for land sales to the i s t May instant. From the Secretary for Public Works, stating that the Treasurer had been instructed to pay to the credit of the Board, at the Bank of New Zealand, the sum of £125. being 25 per cent of the sum of £500, granted to this Board by the Appropriation Ordinance passed last session of the Provincial Council. From C. G. Tripp, Esq., relative to the road over Tripp's Pass. With reference to this application, the Board said they Tore prepared to pay the £50 voted for the work on the 7th July last, subject to its being done to the satisfaction of the Engineer. The Engineer stated that he has recently let the work referred to W r . Collins, for the sum of £50 approved of. An application was read from Messrs Brown and Plaule, and others, calling the attention of the Board to the bad state of the road between Mr Mendelsou's and Messrs Brown and Plaute's stores. It was decided to allow one half of the cost of repairs, the total not to exceed £S. The Engineer was instructed to call for tenders for the road through the swump at the back of Mr Patterson's. The Engineer was also instructed to see to the carrying out of the following works : — 1. Two culverts near Guthrie's on ihe Geraldine and Pleasant Valley road. 2. Some improvements at the Road Board ollice. 3. Continuation of the road through Waihi bush, the outlay not to exceed £9. It was resolved — •"That the Clerk be directed to give due notice to all the members, reminding them that the next meeting of the Board will take place or Tuesday the Ist June, when the Board will proceed to elect a member as their representative at the Timaru and Gladstone Board of Works, m the room of Alfred Cox. Esq., resigned." Tenders for the following works were received and opened : — 1. Koad between Kaukapuku and Oravi, three tenders — the tender of Mr Gilmorc at £17 7s 6d was accepted. 2. Koad from township to Hayhurst's bridge, seven tenders — the tender of William Hayes at 14s lid per chain, and £3 10s for cutting terraces, was accepted. 3. Koad from Hayhurst's to Nuttal's bridge, six tenders — the tender of William Hayes at 17s lOd pur chain, was accepted. Alter examining and passing accounts to the amount of £56 7s lid, the Board adjourned to the Ist June.
