"Herald" Office, Timaru, Thursday evening. We have little to report this week. A very steady trade has been done the last two or three weeks ; and up-country settlers are obtaining stocks for the winter, before the roads are again m a bad state. Messrs Stubbs and King held an auction sale to-day, at the Timuka, and report a very numerous attendance of buyers, and good prices realised. The following is a list of the prices : — Milch cows, £11 10s to £20 ; fat steers, £9 10s to £14 10s ; mixed cattle, all ages, £5 10s to £11 ; draught horses, £34 10s to £43 ; unbroken do, 4.15 to £16; saddle horses, £18 to £20.
