The Resident Magistrate said there was prlntn facie evidence that the prisoner used a knife, ami th.it it would \m for a jury to decide f there had Imeii sufficient provocation given by the prosecutor to wanaut the use of such an instrument. The prisoner was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Christohurch.
