Negro insurrection m Louisiana against their overseers has been quelled by the Militia. Jefferson Davis' trial still deferred. The French Government agrees to withdraw the troops from Mexico, provided the United States undertakes not to interfere m Mexican affairs. The States refuse to do this and have appointed a Minister to the Mexican Republic. The Queen of Spain gave birth to a Prince on the 24th January. Insurrection m Spain suppressed. Bank rate m London 8 per cent. Steady business m all descriptions of wool from second hands. Latterly the markets have been very bare of all sorts. Advance ranged from Id to ljd per cent on November rates. Rates on February 14th, Consols 87J, Victorian debentures, 100.
